Rules in Quebec mostly cover the practical side of a pet's death: where a body can be buried, how deep, and where ashes may be scattered. None of it stops you taking a print. Is cremation common in Canada?

Nobody publishes the same figure for pets, but in our experience pet choices in Montreal follow the human pattern closely, so cremation is the default most families here start from.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Montreal?

Will my vet or crematory take a paw print before cremation?

Make sure it's completely dry, wrap it in bubble wrap inside a rigid box and avoid shipping over a weekend. Better still, send a scan if the maker accepts one.
Is ink safe on my pet's paw?
Use a pet-safe, non-toxic, water-based ink made for paw prints, not a stamp pad or permanent marker. Wipe the paw clean straight afterwards with a damp cloth or unscented pet wipe and dry between the toes so your pet doesn't lick any off. For fluffy paws, cats and anxious pets, an inkless kit, where a special wipe reacts with treated paper, avoids ink on fur altogether.
