Who takes paw prints in Singapore
Pet memorial niches are one option for families who'd rather not keep ashes at home, giving you somewhere quiet to visit. Ask about fees and visiting arrangements before you decide. Paw prints taken before cremation, fur clippings kept in a small glass vial, and jewelry made with ashes are small keepsakes that suit Singapore's compact homes and travel easily if you relocate overseas.
HDB and condo living means memorials usually need to be compact. A small urn on a shelf, a photo frame with an ash compartment, or a memorial pendant fits easily into a flat. Many Singapore families also keep a collar or name tag beside the urn. If relatives would like to share the ashes, ask for small keepsake urns to be filled before the main urn is sealed.
Many households in Singapore rent, move often or have more than one pet. Prints travel well: a sealed clay disc or a framed ink print moves with you, while a garden burial can't. If you have two or three animals, consider taking all their prints on the same afternoon, while everyone is well. It turns a sad job into an ordinary family project and means nobody is left out later.
With roughly 5,637,000 residents, Singapore is the largest of the 5 Central communities we cover.
Nearby, we also have local pages for Bukit Timah (2 miles), Orchard (3 miles) and Marina Bay (6 miles), which can help if your vet or the provider you prefer is based there.

Local customs and the keepsake you keep
With about 81.16%[1] of people in Singapore cremated, most local families already know the rhythm of a cremation: collection, a few days' wait, then the ashes come home. A print fits neatly into the start of that process, before collection. Once your pet is cremated, the chance is gone, so the first phone call is the right moment to mention it.
Source for the Singapore number: Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023). Nobody publishes a pet cremation rate for Singapore, so the human figure is the best local signal available.
Weather in Singapore and your pet's print
Whatever the season in Singapore, take prints indoors in a comfortable room, not in direct sun or a cold garage. Dry the paw with a towel before using ink so it doesn't smudge, and tape the card down. Let clay dry on a rack at room temperature for two or three days, then seal it before framing or posting it anywhere.

Paw print prices: kits, add-ons and finishing
Hong Kong shows how packages are built: one provider lists basic individual cremation at HKD 1,300 for a 1 to 5 kg pet[4], with extras added on top. A paw print is typically one of the least expensive extras. Wherever you are, ask providers in Singapore to price the print separately so you can compare fairly.

What Central allows after your pet dies
Rules in Central say a good deal about where a pet can be buried and very little about how a crematory keeps track of each animal. That's one more reason to take your own print: made before collection, it's a record you created yourself. Ask your provider how pets are tagged, and read the burial and scattering notes below for the rest.
In Singapore, pet funeral providers usually offer packages, and a paw print can often be added before cremation if you ask. The year-round humidity is the main practical challenge: air-dry clay stays soft for longer, and ink can bleed on damp card. Work in an air-conditioned room and give prints several days to dry before sealing.
Your paw print plan for Singapore
- Take a breath. If your pet has just died at home, there is usually time for a print in the first few hours. Lay them on a towel in a cool room.
- Gather what you need: a damp cloth, and either clay you've softened between your palms or a sheet of card fixed to a board alongside a pet-safe ink pad.
- If the leg has stiffened, bring the clay to the paw. Press it gently onto the pads rather than forcing the paw down.
- Take a nose print too if you'd like one, with a light touch of ink or an inkless wipe.
- Call your vet or crematory afterwards, and let them know a print has already been made so they can skip that step.
- Let the print dry indoors, away from heaters and sunny windows, before you frame or post it anywhere.
Remembering your pet through their print
Some Singapore families remember pets during Qing Ming, when relatives are honored, or on the anniversary of a pet's death, with flowers, incense or a favorite treat beside the urn. A small memorial stone or engraved plaque on a balcony or corridor planter can give you a place to pause. Choose materials that handle heat, humidity and daily tropical rain without fading.

Questions people ask
Why does the Singapore page quote a human cremation rate?
Because it is the best local signal we have. Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023) reports about 81.16%[1] of Singapore residents are cremated. There is no official pet equivalent, and inventing one would be worse than quoting a real, clearly labelled number.
Which nearby towns can I compare with Singapore?
The closest communities we cover are Bukit Timah (about 2 miles), Orchard (about 3 miles) and Marina Bay (about 6 miles). Providers based in those places often serve Singapore too. Ask each one for a written total that includes collection, so the distance is priced in.
Should I use a local jeweler or an online maker for a paw print pendant?
Both work. A local jeweler or engraver in Singapore lets you see samples and hand over the print in person. Online makers usually work from a photo or scan, so the original never has to leave your home. Ask either one for a proof before they start, and check how long it will take: a custom silver print charm takes about two weeks at one US maker[6].
How do I get a nose print from my cat?
Cats have small noses and dislike being fussed, so pick a sleepy moment. Use an inkless wipe or the lightest dab of pet-safe ink on a soft sponge, then touch a small folded card to the nose from the front and lift away. Expect a faint, partial print; that's normal. Take several attempts over a few days rather than persisting in one session, and wipe the nose clean afterwards so your cat doesn't lick the residue.
How do I stop an ink paw print from smudging?
Dry the paw with a towel first, tape the card to a hard surface and press straight down with steady pressure, then lift straight up without sliding. Too much ink blurs the pads, so dab lightly. Take three or four prints and keep the clearest. Let the ink dry fully before touching it, especially in humid weather.
Will my vet or crematory take a paw print before cremation?
Most will if asked, and many include a clay or ink print in the package. But requests can be missed on a busy day, especially at emergency clinics. Mention it when you book, ask for it to be written on the aftercare form and ask whether it comes back to you that day or with the ashes. Once your pet has been cremated, the chance is gone.
