Who takes paw prints in Sentosa
Salt spray and humidity are hard on outdoor memorials on the island. Ordinary steel rusts and cheap finishes blister within a year or two. Granite, marine-grade stainless steel and glazed ceramic hold up well. A potted frangipani or bougainvillea on a terrace, with a little ash mixed through the soil, can become a living memorial that flowers most of the year.
Families on Sentosa often keep ashes at home rather than in a columbarium, choosing a spot with a view the animal loved, such as a shelf facing the marina or a corner of the terrace. A sea-glass urn, a small bronze paw or a photograph printed on aluminium suits the light-filled houses of the Cove, and a keepsake can travel if the family relocates.
If your pet will travel to a crematory near Singapore, the journey can take a day or two, depending on collection schedules. Many crematories offer a print at intake, which is a useful backup. But if you can, take your own before your pet leaves Sentosa. That way you have it in your hands and don't depend on anyone else remembering.
With roughly 1,800 residents, Sentosa is the 5th-largest of the 5 Central communities we cover. Some of the providers who serve Sentosa are based about 7 miles away in Singapore, the nearest larger centre, so collection times reflect that drive.
If you want to compare providers, look at Marina Bay (3 miles, a larger centre), Orchard (4 miles, a larger centre) and Singapore (7 miles, a larger centre). Distance matters because pickup fees and the time until the ashes come back both grow with the drive.
81.16%[1]
In 2023, 81.16% of deaths in Singapore were cremated (4 crematoria).
~$32[2]
Paw-print add-ons at US crematories have a median price of about $32, from $10 to $76.
3-5% of body weight[3]
Embrace notes cremated remains typically weigh about 3-5% of the pet's original body weight.

Ashes, graves and the print that comes first
Because Singapore cremates about 81.16%[1] of the people who die there, many families have no grave to visit, for people or for pets. Something has to take the place of a headstone, and a print does that job surprisingly well. It's physical, it's unmistakably your animal, and it can hang by the front door or sit on a desk. If you plan to scatter the ashes, the print may be the only memorial you keep.
The Singapore percentage above is from Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023) and refers to human funerals. Treat it as context for Sentosa, not as a count of pets.
Weather in Sentosa and your pet's print
We don't have local weather data for Sentosa, so here's the general rule: prints dislike extremes. Clay wants a room at ordinary indoor temperature, out of sun and drafts, for two or three days. Ink wants a dry paw and a dry card. Plaster and resin want warmth to set, but not heat. If a room is comfortable for you in a sweater or a T-shirt, it's fine for a print.

Paw print costs around Sentosa, line by line
Hong Kong shows how packages are built: one provider lists basic individual cremation at HKD 1,300 for a 1 to 5 kg pet[4], with extras added on top. A paw print is typically one of the least expensive extras. Wherever you are, ask providers in Sentosa to price the print separately so you can compare fairly.
Rather than repeat the price table on every city page, we keep one for Central: Central costs. What each service includes is on the services page.

Local rules worth knowing in Central
If you might move away from Central one day, it helps to know that a print, a cast or a photograph needs no paperwork at a border, while ashes sometimes do, and a grave can't come with you at all. None of that should decide your plans, but it's worth weighing alongside what Central allows, set out below.
In Singapore, pet funeral providers usually offer packages, and a paw print can often be added before cremation if you ask. The year-round humidity is the main practical challenge: air-dry clay stays soft for longer, and ink can bleed on damp card. Work in an air-conditioned room and give prints several days to dry before sealing.
Your paw print plan for Sentosa
- If your pet dies unexpectedly at the clinic, ask for a few minutes before you leave the room. Most teams will give you time and can bring a print kit to you.
- Say exactly what you want: clay, ink, a nose print or all three, and how many copies.
- If you can't face doing it yourself, a nurse or technician can make the print while you step out of the room; ask them to show you the result before you head home.
- Get the crematory's name and your pet's reference number from the front desk, written down.
- If no print was taken, call the crematory first thing the next morning and ask for one at intake.
- Leave the urn and the other extras for later. The print is the only decision that can't wait.
Shelf, wall or garden: where the print ends up
For many Sentosa residents, the sea is part of daily life: boats in the marina, sunsets toward the Southern Islands, the beaches at Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong. It is natural to want a memorial tied to the water. Scattering ashes at sea off Singapore is regulated, so ask a provider whether it can be done for a pet and where.

Questions people ask
Where are the providers that serve Sentosa actually based?
Some are local, and some run from Singapore, about 7 miles away. That is normal for a town this size. What matters is the collection time they quote for Sentosa and whether the drive is priced into the total, so ask both up front.
Is cremation common in Singapore?
For people, yes: about 81.16%[1] of Singapore deaths end in cremation, according to Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023). Nobody publishes the same figure for pets, but in our experience pet choices in Sentosa follow the human pattern closely, so cremation is the default most families here start from.
Which nearby towns can I compare with Sentosa?
The closest communities we cover are Marina Bay (about 3 miles), Orchard (about 4 miles) and Singapore (about 7 miles). Providers based in those places often serve Sentosa too. Ask each one for a written total that includes collection, so the distance is priced in.
Can I take a paw print or an ashes pendant through customs?
Paw prints in clay or on card are simply craft items and need no paperwork. Ashes are different: some countries and airlines ask for the cremation certificate and prefer ashes in hand luggage, in a container that can be screened. Carry the certificate from the crematorium, keep any jewelry holding ashes in your carry-on and check the airline's and the destination's rules before you travel from Sentosa.
What if my family can't agree who keeps the print?
Take several. Clay can be re-rolled and ink prints are quick, so there's no reason to stop at one. If the original is already made, photograph or scan it and have copies made: framed ink prints, small engraved tags or matching pendants. Our ashes sharing planner can help if you're dividing ashes between keepsakes too.
Do pet funeral packages in Sentosa include a paw print?
Some do, but it varies. Pet funeral providers in Asia often sell packages with collection, a short ceremony, individual cremation and an urn, and a paw print or fur clipping may be included or offered as an extra. Ask for the package contents in writing, and if a print isn't listed, ask whether they can take one before cremation.
