Paw print keepsakes in Incheon: where to start
Some Incheon families with international ties choose memorials that travel easily, like keepsake jewelry or small keepsake urns, so relatives abroad can have a share of the ashes. Ask for small portions to be set aside before the main urn is sealed. A memorial niche at a pet funeral facility is another option if you'd rather not keep ashes at home but want somewhere to visit.
Incheon apartments, from the older port districts to the towers of Songdo, are often compact, so memorials tend to be too: a small urn, a photo frame with an ash compartment, or memorial beads made from cremated remains, which are popular across Korea. If beads interest you, ask whether they're made by the cremation provider or a specializt, and what they add to the cost.
Many households in Incheon rent, move often or have more than one pet. Prints travel well: a sealed clay disc or a framed ink print moves with you, while a garden burial can't. If you have two or three animals, consider taking all their prints on the same afternoon, while everyone is well. It turns a sad job into an ordinary family project and means nobody is left out later.
With roughly 2,954,000 residents, Incheon is one of the South Korea communities we cover.
Nearby, we also have local pages for Seoul (17 miles, a larger centre), Gangnam (18 miles) and Daejeon (85 miles), which can help if your vet or the provider you prefer is based there.

Cremation habits in South Korea and the print window
Because South Korea cremates about 92.43%[1] of the people who die there, many families have no grave to visit, for people or for pets. Something has to take the place of a headstone, and a print does that job surprisingly well. It's physical, it's unmistakably your animal, and it can hang by the front door or sit on a desk. If you plan to scatter the ashes, the print may be the only memorial you keep.
For the South Korea figure we rely on Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023). Read it as a picture of local custom around death and remembrance in Incheon rather than as pet data.
Heat, humidity, cold and drying times
Local weather in Incheon affects a paw print more than you might think. In hot, dry spells, air-dry clay can crack if it dries too fast, so dry it slowly indoors and turn it often. In humid months it stays soft for longer, so be patient. In cold weather, warm the clay in your hands and never let plaster freeze before it has set.

What owners in Incheon typically pay for a print
In Japan, by our estimate about 85% of owners who state a preference want an individual pet funeral rather than a joint one[4], and packages there often include keepsake options. Even communal cremation of a small pet at one Tokyo memorial park costs JPY 14,300[5]. Wherever you are in Asia, check with providers in Incheon that a paw print is listed among the package contents, and ask to see an example.

What the law in South Korea does and doesn't cover
You don't need anyone's permission to take your pet's paw print, and prints, casts and ashes jewelry can be kept, posted or carried anywhere. The rules that matter in South Korea are about burial and scattering. If you plan a home burial, take the print before you begin; if you plan to scatter, keep some ashes back for a print pendant first.
Your paw print plan for Incheon
- Mention the print when you book rather than waiting until the appointment itself, whether that's the euthanasia or the cremation. Ask the team to note it on the aftercare form.
- Ask what kind they take: some clinics do clay only, some ink, some both. If there's any chance you'll want jewelry made, request an ink or inkless version too.
- Ask for two copies if more than one person in the family would like one.
- Ask to see or photograph the print while your pet is still at the clinic; a smudged one can then be done again.
- Check how it comes back: with you that day, or with the ashes later, and how it's labeled.
- Keep the paperwork so you can match the print, the ashes and the invoice when they arrive.
Turning a print into something lasting
Incheon's islands and tidal flats offer beautiful places to remember a pet, but scattering ashes on public land or at sea may need permission, so check first. At home, a small memorial stone on a balcony, paw prints pressed in clay or a lock of fur in a frame are simple, lasting keepsakes that fit easily into apartment life and can sit beside an urn or photo.

Questions people ask
How do South Korea attitudes to cremation compare?
Cremation Society of Great Britain, International Cremation Statistics 2023 (2023) puts the South Korea human cremation rate at about 92.43%[1]. We show it on the Incheon page because pet aftercare choices tend to track it: where cremation is normal for people, communal and private pet cremation are both easy to find.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Incheon?
Usually yes. Seoul is about 17 miles away, Gangnam is about 18 miles away and Daejeon is about 85 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
How do I get a nose print from my cat?
Cats have small noses and dislike being fussed, so pick a sleepy moment. Use an inkless wipe or the lightest dab of pet-safe ink on a soft sponge, then touch a small folded card to the nose from the front and lift away. Expect a faint, partial print; that's normal. Take several attempts over a few days rather than persisting in one session, and wipe the nose clean afterwards so your cat doesn't lick the residue.
Is it possible to print a guinea pig's or hamster's feet?
Yes, but it takes patience and a light touch. Tiny feet leave only faint marks in ink, so very soft modeling clay or an inkless kit usually works better. Warm the clay well, cradle your pet in a towel on your lap and press the clay gently up to the foot rather than lowering the foot. For a hamster, one clear hind foot is plenty. If your pet is frightened, stop; letting your vet take it after death is gentler.
Can I take a paw print or an ashes pendant through customs?
Paw prints in clay or on card are simply craft items and need no paperwork. Ashes are different: some countries and airlines ask for the cremation certificate and prefer ashes in hand luggage, in a container that can be screened. Carry the certificate from the crematorium, keep any jewelry holding ashes in your carry-on and check the airline's and the destination's rules before you travel from Incheon.
Can I get my dog's nose print?
Yes. Dab a small amount of pet-safe ink onto the nose with a soft sponge, or use an inkless wipe, then press a folded card gently against the nose from the front. It usually takes a few tries. The ridges on a dog's nose make a striking engraving on a pendant or an urn, and many providers take a nose print alongside the paw.
