Local customs and the keepsake you keep
Because California cremates about 70.5%[5] of the people who die there, many families have no grave to visit, for people or for pets. Something has to take the place of a headstone, and a print does that job surprisingly well. It's physical, it's unmistakably your animal, and it can hang by the front door or sit on a desk. If you plan to scatter the ashes, the print may be the only memorial you keep.

Seasons in Livermore and a print that lasts
Hot months in Livermore are the best time for an outdoor project in the shade, but not for drying a print outdoors. Direct sun on an air-dry clay disc can warp it and crack the thin edges of the toes. Burial rules in many places, including California, exist partly because the drugs used in euthanasia stay in the body and can harm wildlife or other pets that dig. A print carries none of those concerns, which is why no one regulates it. In order: the print, the aftercare, the keepsake

Questions people ask
Will I have to travel to Fremont to arrange things?
Not usually. Providers based in Fremont (roughly 15 miles from Livermore) collect from here as a matter of routine, and the paperwork is done by email or phone. If you want to be present for a witnessed cremation, that is when the drive matters.
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Livermore?
