Casselberry, Florida
Home, clinic or crematory: paw prints in Casselberry
Some Casselberry households choose a memorial they can share with family who live out of state: a set of small keepsake urns, a pendant each for two siblings, or a glass paperweight holding a trace of ash. A jeweler or glass artist usually needs very little. Ask the provider roughly what quantity of ash to expect so the split works out.
In Casselberry, where many homes are modest single-story houses with small yards, memorials tend to be simple and personal: a wooden box on a bookshelf, a paw-print impression in clay, a framed photo beside a small urn. If you plan to move in a few years, favor something portable over a garden marker. Nothing stops you keeping the remains in the provider's box while you choose.
There may be no ceramic studio or engraver in Casselberry, but that matters less than it used to. Most jewelry, engraving and print-art makers work from a photo or scan of the print, sent by email, and post the finished piece back. Photograph your print flat in daylight, keep the original safe at home and shop around online without sending anything irreplaceable.
With roughly 31,872 residents, Casselberry is the 90th-largest of the 235 Florida communities we cover. Orlando, roughly 8 miles off, is the closest larger centre, and a share of the providers who cover Casselberry run from there.
Our pages for Fern Park (1 miles), Altamonte Springs (1 miles) and Maitland (2 miles) describe the same choices from those towns' point of view, and the providers overlap, so a quote from one often covers Casselberry as well.
Our estimate
11,500
How many dog- or cat-owning households Casselberry has (estimate)
How we calculated this
31,872 ÷ 2.5 = 12,749 households; × 53% (dog) + 39% (cat) = 11,500. Multi-pet homes count once.
Our estimate
980
dog and cat deaths per year in Casselberry, our estimate
How we calculated this
11,500 dog/cat-owning homes ÷ average lifespan (dog: 12.69 yrs + cat: 11.18 yrs) ≈ 980 a year. The real figure is unlikely to be lower.

Local customs and the keepsake you keep
Cremation is the norm for people in Florida (about 72.5%[5] of deaths), and pet crematories there tend to offer a long menu of extras: paw prints, nose prints, fur clippings, name plates, photo urns. It's easy to feel you ought to say yes to everything. You don't have to. Pick the one or two things you'll actually look at in five years' time. For many families, that's a clear print and a small lock of fur.
The Florida figure comes from NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report state projections (via Occasional Sage) (2024). It describes people, not pets, so read it as a sign of local attitudes rather than a pet statistic.
Heat, humidity, cold and drying times
If you plan a 3D cast rather than a flat print, the Casselberry heat changes the chemistry. Two-part silicone molding putty and casting resin both set faster when it's warm, so in May, June, July, August and September you may have only a minute or two to press the paw before the putty firms up. Work in an air-conditioned room, keep the kit in a cool cupboard beforehand and mix only once your pet is settled and in position.
Around July, when highs in Casselberry run near 92°F, a senior pet may be flat and uncomfortable in the afternoons. That's often a good time for a print, oddly enough: a hot, sleepy dog or cat lies still. Choose a cool room, keep sessions short, offer water and stop if your pet gets restless. You can always try again the next evening.

Paw print costs around Casselberry, line by line
If the print is heading for jewelry, budget for the metal rather than the print. By our estimate, a typical sterling silver pet pendant costs about $190[6], and entry-level solid gold pieces at the same retailer cost about 15 times the silver equivalent[7]. Ask any maker in Casselberry whether the quote includes the chain, a proof image before production and engraving on the back, because those three extras are where quotes differ most.

Landlords, parks and permits in Florida
There are no rules about taking a paw print; it's yours to do at home, at the clinic or at the crematory. Where Florida does have rules is what happens next: whether your pet can be buried at home and where ashes can be scattered. Those choices can affect your print too, for example if you want it set into a garden stone or a grave marker.

The rules that apply across Florida (home burial, scattering and who oversees pet cremation) are summarized on our Florida page. Casselberry may add its own conditions, so check with the city or county before digging.
A short checklist for a clean print
- Take a breath. If your pet has just died at home, there is usually time for a print in the first few hours. Lay them on a towel in a cool room.
- Gather what you need: clay warmed in your hands, or card taped to a board with a pet-safe ink pad, plus a damp cloth.
- If the leg has stiffened, bring the clay to the paw. Press it gently onto the pads rather than forcing the paw down.
- Take a nose print too should you want one; barely touch the nose with the ink pad or an inkless wipe.
- Call your vet or crematory afterwards, and let them know a print has already been made so they can skip that step.
- Let the print dry indoors, away from heaters and sunny windows, before you frame or post it anywhere.
From paw print to pendant, frame or garden stone
Seminole County summers bring heavy rain, heat and fierce sun, which rules out a few memorial materials for outdoor use. A granite or slate marker, set flat in a planting bed, will outlast wood, resin or anything with a printed photo. Indoors, keep ceramic and glass pieces away from the sunny window over the kitchen sink, where heat and light build up.

Questions people ask
Where are the providers that serve Casselberry actually based?
Some are local, and some run from Orlando, about 8 miles away. That is normal for a town this size. What matters is the collection time they quote for Casselberry and whether the drive is priced into the total, so ask both up front.
When is the hardest time of year to arrange a burial in Casselberry?
There is no frozen-ground season here; average lows stay above freezing all year. The other pressure point is July, when highs around 92°F mean a body needs cooling and collecting quickly.
How many pet owners live in Casselberry?
By our estimate, about 11,500 households in Casselberry have at least one dog or cat, and around 980 are lost each year. We calculate this from the city's population of about 31,872, the average household size and national ownership and lifespan figures, so treat it as a floor rather than an exact count.
How do Florida attitudes to cremation compare?
NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report state projections (via Occasional Sage) (2024) puts the Florida human cremation rate at about 72.5%[5]. We show it on the Casselberry page because pet aftercare choices tend to track it: where cremation is normal for people, communal and private pet cremation are both easy to find.
What is a silver-clay paw print, and what does it cost?
Silver clay is a modeling clay made of fine silver particles and a binder. A jeweler presses your pet's paw, or a copy of it, into the clay, dries it and fires it in a kiln, which burns off the binder and leaves solid silver with the pad shapes intact. A Northeast US crematory network prices a clay or silver-clay paw print at $76[9]. Ask whether the piece is a direct impression or a scaled copy, and whether it comes as a pendant or a flat token.
Why do so many owners miss the chance to take a print?
Because a print has a window. By our estimate, around 980 dogs and cats die in Casselberry each year, many of them suddenly or at an emergency clinic, when a clay kit is the last thing on anyone's mind. Taking a print while your pet is well, or asking for one when you book aftercare, is the simplest way not to miss it.
