Paw Print Keepsakes in Dubai: what to know
If you're in Dubai and your pet's health is starting to fail, a short plan helps: who you'd call, where your pet would go and what you'd like to keep. The print is the only part of that plan with a deadline. Our planning page walks through the rest, and each city page adds local weather, prices and rules.
Home euthanasia has become far more common across Dubai, and it has made paw prints easier. When the vet comes to you, the goodbye happens on your pet's own bed, with no waiting room and no rush to leave. Many home-visit vets carry a clay kit. Even if they don't, you can take your own print before they arrive, in a room your pet knows.

How Dubai thinks about cremation, and why prints matter
Published cremation figures for Dubai are patchy, so we can't say how common it is here. What we can say is that a print fits every custom, whether it ends up on a family altar, beside a grave or on a plain bookshelf. If local practice is unfamiliar to you, perhaps because you've recently moved, ask your vet what most families do, then take your print before that path begins.
What owners in Dubai typically pay for a print
We haven't found published local prices for paw prints in Dubai, so the table shows examples from the US, UK and Canada as a rough guide. The print is usually one of the cheapest parts of aftercare; the finishing, such as jewelry or engraving, is where costs rise. Ask local vets or crematories for a written price in local currency.
If no local provider in Dubai offers prints, you can still take one yourself with a home kit and have it finished abroad. Many makers work from a photo or scan: a US studio makes a sterling silver charm from your pet's actual print for about $143 before the chain[1]. Check shipping times and customs before you order.
| Keepsake | Published price | Country |

| Separate cremation, pet up to 30 kg | AED 2,300 to 2,700[6] | UAE, for context |

Rules in Dubai that touch on keepsakes
If you might move away from Dubai one day, it helps to know that a print, a cast or a photograph needs no paperwork at a border, while ashes sometimes do, and a grave can't come with you at all. None of that should decide your plans, but it's worth weighing alongside what Dubai allows, set out below.
In the UAE, burying pets isn't permitted, so families who want a keepsake usually arrange private cremation[8]. That makes the print especially important, because there's no grave to visit. Take it at home in an air-conditioned room before collection, or ask the provider to take one first. Summer heat means the first hours matter, so keep your pet cool.
What to do first, and what can wait
- Tell your child what's happening in plain words, then offer them a part in making the print if they want one. Our guide to print-making with children has age-by-age ideas for what they can do.
- Give them a real job: they can roll the clay, pick the card, or write the name.
- Let them press a hand or fingerprint beside the paw if they want to.
- If the print is taken after death, let an adult or the vet do it, and show your child the finished keepsake.
- Make a copy for your child's room, and tuck the original away out of harm's way.
- Come back to it later. One child wants it framed the same week; another won't look at it for months.
Turning a print into something lasting
Frames are the simplest option and often the most loved. An ink print on acid-free card, behind UV-filtering glass and out of direct sun, will stay crisp for decades. Add a photo and an engraved tag with your pet's name, and you have a small memorial that fits on any wall.
If Dubai is not quite where you are, all locations has the rest. Otherwise the services page, the tools and the poll results are the useful next stops.

Questions people ask
What if my pet is cremated far from home?
In rural parts of Dubai, pets are often cremated in a larger town some distance away. Take the print locally before collection, yourself or through your vet, so you can check it. Many crematories also take one at intake as a backup and return it with the ashes.
Where can I get a paw print keepsake in Dubai?
Across Dubai, most vets, in-home euthanasia vets and pet crematories can take a clay or ink paw print, usually before cremation. You can also take one yourself at home with a kit. For jewelry, engraving or art, local makers and online studios both work from a clear print or a scan. Ask for the print when you book aftercare, not afterwards.
What do other owners in Dubai choose for a paw print keepsake?
We don't publish made-up figures on that. We do run short, anonymous polls on what readers chose, from clay discs to engraved jewelry, and you can see the live results. They count one vote per person and aren't a scientific survey, but they give a feel for how other owners decided.
How much does a paw print cost in Dubai?
Published prices for prints alone are scarce, because most are sold within a cremation package or quoted on request. As a benchmark, a US crematory network lists a clay paw print at $76[2], and a UK studio casts a small dog's paw in resin from about £120[5]. Ask local providers for a written price.
Can my vet in Dubai take a paw print before cremation?
Almost always, if you ask in time. Mention it when you book the appointment or the cremation, ask for it on the aftercare form and ask to see it before your pet leaves. If the vet can't, the crematory can usually take one at intake. After cremation, it's too late.
Can I get more than one copy of my pet's print in Dubai?
Yes. Request two prints from your vet or crematory at the time of booking; it's a common request and usually costs little extra. Ink prints take seconds, so a home session can produce as many as you like. If you only have one original, scan it and have copies printed, engraved or cast, so every person in the family has their own without anyone giving up the original.
