Getting a paw print in Clinton: the local picture
Clinton has plenty of families tied to Hill Air Force Base, which can mean relatives scattered across several states and a move always possible. Dividing the ashes before they're returned gives each person something to keep, and small containers such as pendants, glass hearts or tiny tins pack easily in a moving box or a carry-on bag. Mention the split to the provider at the first call.
With larger lots than many Wasatch Front suburbs, Clinton homes have room for a memorial garden: a small flower bed around an engraved stone, a tree planted along the back fence, or a bench facing the sunset over the lake. Indoors, a framed photo and urn on a mantel can sit alongside family pictures. Choose what feels natural for your family.
Home burial on your own land is still common in and around Clinton, where local rules allow it. If that's your plan, you have more time and privacy than a city owner waiting for a collection van. Take the print at home before you wrap your pet: a calm half hour on the porch or the kitchen floor, with clay warmed in your hands.
About 23,797 people live in Clinton, which makes it the 43rd-largest of the 52 Utah communities we cover. Some of the providers who serve Clinton are based about 28 miles away in Salt Lake City, the nearest larger centre, so collection times reflect that drive.
Our pages for Roy (2 miles), Syracuse (4 miles) and Clearfield (4 miles) describe the same choices from those towns' point of view, and the providers overlap, so a quote from one often covers Clinton as well.
Our estimate
8,750
Clinton: dog- or cat-owning households, our estimate
How we calculated this
23,797 ÷ 2.5 = 9,519 households; × 53% (dog) + 39% (cat) = 8,750. A household with several pets counts once.
Our estimate

Estimated dog and cat losses in Clinton each year
How we calculated this
8,750 dog/cat-owning homes ÷ average lifespan (dog: 12.69 yrs + cat: 11.18 yrs) ≈ 730 a year. A floor, not a ceiling.

Ashes, graves and the print that comes first
Burial is still more common than cremation for people in Utah, where about 46.1%[5] are cremated. Many pet owners here bury too, often on their own land where that's allowed. That gives you something city cremation doesn't: time. You can take a paw print at home, calmly, before the burial, with no one waiting at the door.
The Utah percentage above is from NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report state projections (via Occasional Sage) (2024) and refers to human funerals. Treat it as context for Clinton, not as a count of pets.
When the weather works against clay and ink
Snow and ice in January, February, November and December can hold up home-visit vets and collection vans around Clinton, sometimes by a day. If your pet dies during a storm or a cold snap, you may be caring for them longer than you expected. Keep them in the chilliest room of the house, away from heating, on a towel or blanket. Take the print early in that time, while the paws are still soft enough to press cleanly.
If you're planning a garden stone with your pet's print pressed into it, the Clinton winter will decide your timing. Concrete and mortar need temperatures above freezing to cure properly, so take the print now in clay or ink and keep it indoors. In spring, once the ground has thawed, you or a local stonemason can use it to make the outdoor memorial.

Where the money goes: the print, then the finishing
Some providers include the print in the package. A Virginia crematory, for example, includes a paw print and a fur clipping with every private cremation package, which run $189–$300[6]. Others charge separately: a Northeast crematory network lists $49 for ink paw prints, $76 for a clay or silver-clay print and $111 framed[7]. When you compare quotes in Clinton, check which approach each provider takes.

What the law in Utah does and doesn't cover
If you might move away from Utah one day, it helps to know that a print, a cast or a photograph needs no paperwork at a border, while ashes sometimes do, and a grave can't come with you at all. None of that should decide your plans, but it's worth weighing alongside what Utah allows, set out below.
To find your county or city office in Utah, start with the official Utah local government directory.
Start with the Utah rules, which cover burial, scattering and oversight for the whole state, and treat Clinton's local ordinances as a possible extra layer.
What to do first, and what can wait
- For a horse, have the farrier out beforehand to trim the hoof and tidy it up. Clean the sole thoroughly and let it dry.
- Press the hoof into a thick slab of clay resting on a board, or coat the sole in non-toxic paint and set it down on stiff card. Ask a helper to keep the leg still while you do it.
- Keep the last shoe and a length of tail or mane hair, since plenty of owners later have the hair plaited or cast in resin.
- For a bird or a very small pet, choose the softest clay or an inkless sheet, and barely press at all. Clay picks up tiny toes best.
- For a fluffy cat or rabbit, an inkless kit avoids ink on fur they'll groom later, and clay shows the long shape of a rabbit's foot.
- Dry and store every print indoors, and photograph it so a maker can work from the image.
Ways families in Clinton keep a print close
Summer sunsets over the Great Salt Lake are a big part of evening life on Clinton's west side, and some families orient a memorial toward them: a low stone at the edge of the patio, or a bench facing west. Pick materials that shrug off lake wind and frost, such as granite or bronze, and set them firmly so they don't shift when the ground freezes.

Questions people ask
Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Clinton?
Usually yes. Roy is about 2 miles away, Syracuse is about 4 miles away and Clearfield is about 4 miles away, all inside a normal collection radius. Get the mileage written into the quote so there is no surprise on the day.
Why does the Clinton page quote a human cremation rate?
Because it is the best local signal we have. NFDA 2024 Cremation & Burial Report state projections (via Occasional Sage) (2024) reports about 46.1%[5] of Utah residents are cremated. There is no official pet equivalent, and inventing one would be worse than quoting a real, clearly labelled number.
Roughly how many pets die in Clinton each year?
Our estimate is around 730. It comes from Clinton's population (about 23,797), the average household size, the share of homes with a dog or cat (about 8,750 households here) and the average lifespan. It is arithmetic, not a count, so read it as a rough floor.
How does Clinton's weather affect pet aftercare?
July is the hottest month in Clinton, with average highs around 87°F, so prompt collection matters most then. Average lows drop below freezing in January, February, November and December, which can make digging a grave hard until spring.
How much does a paw print keepsake cost in Clinton?
The print itself is usually inexpensive. US crematories list paw-print add-ons from about $10 to $76, with a median of about $32[8], and some include one in the cremation package. Finishing costs more: engraved paw prints on urns typically add $20 to $35, and paw or nose print pendants start at about $100. Ask providers in Clinton what's already included.
How do I get a clear print from very furry paws?
Trim the tufts between the pads with blunt-tipped scissors, leaving the fur around the edge, which gives the print its outline. For cats, long-haired dogs and rabbits, an inkless kit or soft clay often works better than ink. Rabbits have no pads at all, so clay shows the long shape of the hind foot beautifully.
